The Kingdom by Jess Rothenberg

What would happen if you blended Disneyland, West World and Blade Runner together.  Oh boy! you would get The Kingdom.  I liked this story a lot.  Yes, there were some holes in it but over all it was good and fine for high school libraries.  I liked the idea of artificial robots that develop their own identities over time, as they entertain guests in roles of princess.  There is a dark side, as people use them for their own dark pleasures and then erase their memories.  Fine for any high school library.  Enjoy.

Full Disclosure by Camryn Garrett

It's a good book but there is lots of mature events that take place.  I think it is an important book and I'm glad that the public library carries this book.  The audio book is also good.

Pumpkin Heads by Rowell and Hicks

I loved this book.  It's a cute graphic novel of friends finding out how they feel.  Fine for any high school library.  Enjoy this graphic novel.

Stronger, Faster, and more Beautiful by Arwen Elys dayton

Imagination can transport us to different worlds and times.  This one takes us to the future.  An interesting read.  I think it would be fine for high school.  I should add that there is some violence in this story.

Avengers Destiny Arrives by Liza Palmer

I'm getting this for my high school library because I think it'll be a good guy's read.  Enjoy.

Loki Where Mischief Lies by Mackenzi Lee

I can see this popular with high school students who enjoy the Marvel stories and also Norse Mythology.  It's a good blend.  I would say fine for high school libraries.  Enjoy.

A Warning by Anonymous

I listened to the audio book and wow.  No matter where you are on the political spectrum, it's worth listening to with an open mind.  It is not my intention to be political but to give options to see concerns of what is going on inside the Oval Office.  It's worth reading.

Three Rancheros Beverly, Right Here by Kate DiCamillo

A great series that brings honesty to a teen trying to figure it out.  A good book and would be welcomed in any high school library.  It's a good read.

Dangerous Alliance by Jennieke Cohen

I love anything Jane Austen and this story works well.  Set in Regency times, a young girl models her life under the current novels of that time by Jane Austen.  Lots of drama and danger balance this romantic story.  Enjoy.  Fine for any high school library.

Where The World Ends by Geraldine McCaughrean

An interesting story.  It's dark and a survival story based on a true story.  I would say that I don't think I will get it for my high school.  It's good but I don't feel like it is written to appeal to my students.  I think it would work for higher level reading.  It's a good book and important but I don't think it would work for my school library.  It is worth reading.
Here is a video of the author discussing her book: Where the World Ends author talk

Disappeared by Francisco X. Stork

I read this and knew that I needed to get this for my school library.  It's a solid book and Francisco X. Stork knows how to tell a story.  It's an important read.

Hawthorne The Sentence Is Death by Anthony Horowitz

I love reading Horowitz's books.  This series is very smart.  The author has incorporated himself in to this fictional story but it reads realistic.  If you like a good murder mystery, this is the series to catch up on.  Enjoy.

Light at the Bottom of the World by London Shah

Futuristic plus a conspiracy theory makes this a good read.  Fine for any high school library.  I think I'll get for my school library.  Enjoy.

The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow

I enjoyed this book very much.  Audio Book also good.  There are two stories going on.  One of a young women who opens a door and finds the love of her life only to be separated from him for years and goes in searching of him.  The other is another young girl who grows up lonely and away from her father who only comes in short visits.  And then she finds out the truth.  I'm getting this one for my high school library.  Brilliant!

The Last Musketeer by Stuart Gibbs

Oh you need to get this one for your elementary and middle school libraries.  Anything by Stuart Gibbs is a plus to add to your school library.  It's a fun read and you learn about old France.  I'm thinking of sharing this with my French teacher.  Go back in time, it's a good read.

Poor Relation Mrs. Budley Fall from Grace by M. C. Beaton

It's cute and fine in Regency romance.  I find M. C. Beaton very entertaining when she writes, this applies for her mystery novels as well.

Enjoy.  Audio book also entertaining.

Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire

There are some mature themes in here.  I think this would be more for personal collections and public libraries.  It's a strange book and won't be for everyone.  I'm going to pass on this one for me but I would recommend it to those who read outside the box.

Blood Heir by Amelie Wen Zhao

I liked this book, but a few times got lost in all the action and there is a lot of action.  It's fine for high school libraries.

Arc of a Scythe The Toll by Neal Shusterman

Oh my goodness, excellent series.  Just read anything Neal Shusterman writes, he's that good.
Neal if you're reading this, I would love to have an author's dinner and just enjoy hearing all these amazing authors just talk about the writing craft.  So adding this to my high school library.  Enjoy it's a good one!

The Candle and the Flame by Nafiza Azad

I liked this one, it's fantasy and romance, good and evil all rolled up to one.  I think it will entertain serious teen readers who enjoy this genre.  Fine for high school libraries.

The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Septeys

Excellent story.  Well researched.  Great depth of characters.  Throw in some romance and a follow up wrap up and you have yourself the makings of a really good story.  I'm getting this one for my high school library.

The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh

Romance, danger and powerful blend together with secrets and topped with murder makes this a good story for young teens to enjoy.  Also there be vampires.  Enjoy.  Audio book also very good.

I Am C-3P0 by Anthony Daniels

I listened to the audio book read by Anthony Daniels.  He does a great job telling about his life experiences as C3P0.  If you are a Star Wars fan and enjoys the back story of the making of the movie and the character of a charming robot, you'll enjoy this book.

Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater

I love the Raven Cycle series, the previous books, now there is a new series.  I found the story confusing and hard to follow.  Sigh.

Openly Straight by Bill Konigsberg

I liked this book a lot but I do want to say there is some very passionate scenes.  I think it's great for personal and public libraries.  I would say read the book before you think about school libraries.  There is some mature content.

Goosebumps Slappy World Revenge of the Invisible Boy by R. L. Stine

It's fine for middle school.  Actually, I did like it.  I can see middle school students enjoying the story.

A Treason of Thorns by Laura E. Weymouth

I truly didn't understand the story.  I listened to the audio book.  The story left me with questions.  Why is there a magical house in the first place?  What was the entity that was part of the house?  There were more questions but I'll spare you those.  The book felt incomplete and I had a hard time finishing it.  I would pass on this one for my library.

The Love Letters of Abelard & Lily by Laura Creedle

The two have lots of text conversations which are quite advance for regular teens.  They are great conversations but they sound more adult rather then teens.  Both Lilly and Abelard have outbursts that relate to the way their brains work.  It's a good read and fine for high school libraries.

Staking Jack the Ripper Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco

In this murder mystery, a young woman of about 17 must use deductive reasoning also involved in lots of flirting.  It's fine for any high school library.  I read book 3 first in the series.  Actually I listened to book 3 and it's fine to read before any of the other series.  I'm going to get for my high school library.  Enjoy.

The Aurora Cycle Aurora Rising by Kaufman & Kristoff

If you like Star Wars, Planet of the Apes, Dr. Who, Star Gate and Space 1999 then this is the story for you.  It's a good read.   Science Fiction genre at it's best.  The audio book also very good.  A girl wakes up after two hundred years.  And then she's being hunted.  Why?  What happened to her original mission and it's location?  Got to read it to find out.

It's a good story of the legend of Mulan.  I am going to get for my high school library.  Audio book also very good also.  Enjoy.

Undead Girl Gang by Lilly Anderson

At first I thought I wasn't going to enjoy this but I did get into the story.  Fine for public libraries, I would say read before you decide for high school libraries.

Serafina and the Twisted Staff by Robert Beatty

With the Biltmore as the background and the vast forest around it, this dark fantasy continues in book 2. Magic and history blend together in the good vs. evil story.  It's a good book.  Enjoy.  Fine for children's and middle school libraries.

Tiny Pretty things by Charaiporta & Clayton

Think Pretty Little Liars meets the world of Ballet.  Lots of drama.  The story reads like a teen soap opera.  I'm going to pass on this one for my high school library.  Fine for public library.  Just a lot of back stabbing through out the whole entire story.

The Cool Bean by John and Oswald

Too cute!  This is the third book that this creative team has worked on in this series.  I love the visual puns in the story as well.  Entertaining for adults and little people.  A welcome addition to any school or young person's library.  Enjoy.

Serious Goose by Jimmy Kimmel

Just a fun read aloud.  Enjoy reading this one to young children.

The Infinite Noise by Lauren Shippen

This is book one in a series.  There is a lot of conversation and point of views as both boys take turns moving the story along.  There's a lot going on and teen angst.  I think I would pass on this one.  I would say read it before you add to the library to see if your students would read this book.  I think its fine for private collections and also public libraries.

Chrestomanci Book Conrad’s Fate by Diana Wynne Jones

Diana Wynne Jones stories are very entertaining.  Think Harry Potter meets Dr. Who.  Worth the read if you enjoy fantasy.  Fine for any high school or middle school libraries.  Enjoy. Audio book also very good.

The Green Ember Ember Falls by S. D. Smith

S. D. Smith has created a world of animals who replace people to create a fantasy world much like Red Wall Abby.  If I could have a dinner party of authors, I would invite S. D. Smith and the late Brian Jaques author of the Red Wall Abby series.  Enjoy it's a good read and fine for any elementary or middle school library.  The audio book also very good.

Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan

Other books by this author, have not appealed to me.  This one was much better but there were a few plot points that left questions.  Was the story easily believable?  Well ..... there were holes.  The book is okay to add to the school library.  Audio book okay.

Gravemaidens by Kelly Coon

A new fantasy is on the shelf,  I thought it was okay.  It's fine to add to any high school library.  Lots of drama and a bit of sweet romance, with lots of danger, elements to move this story along.

The Folk of the Air The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black

Aah, the last book ... or is it?  All is not well with the Fair Folk.  It is worse if you are a mortal person.  Lots of violence.  It's fine.

Tourist Trap Mystery Memories and Murder by Lynn Cahoon

I'm hooked on this series.  Who can resist a small California coastal town with an independent book store that serves yummy treats?  I'm ready to move there and help solve murders.  Enjoy.  Audio book also very good.
