It explains the how and why he drew the scenes staring skeletons as political and social commentaries of life in Mexico. A good book to add to any school library.

Primer by Muro, Krajewski and Lusky

This graphic novel is fine for any middle school or even upper elementary school library collection. I liked the main character and we have students in foster care so it is good to see some characters as the main character of the book. A good read.

Flying Paintings by Alznauer, Zhou & Zhou

 A very dynamic book to add to library shelves.  History and Art blended together to tell the brothers' stories.  A good book to use in world history when talking about China, when they changed to a very strict communism.  

Leaphorn & Chee Spider Woman’s Daughter by Anne Hillerman

 A murder mystery that is not cozy.  What I appreciate about this series is that you learn about the culture of a whole different world than mine.  A good read.  It's smart and descriptive and really a great series of stories with a mystery. The characters are real and authentic.  A good read and a good audio book.  

Parker Looks Up by Curry, Curry and Jackson

A lovely book about an adorable girl and her visit to see art.  A good book to enjoy and share with young people.  Add this to your young library.
 

We Are Water Protectors by Carol Lindstrom and illustrated by Michaela Goade

 A beautiful book told in perspective of Native Americans about taking care of water and why it is important.  Should be in all libraries.  A good read.

Niko Draws A Feeling by Bob Raczka

 If you are teaching art to young students, this is a good book to start with.  Add this one to your library.  Enjoy.

The Greatest Treasure Hunt in History by Robert M. Edsel

 

If you have seen Monuments Men, you know how great it is.  The book is also great.  This is a good book for middle and high school libraries.  An amazing story.  Enjoy this book either by reading or listening to.  

Like a Bird The Art of the American Slave Song by Grady & Wood

I'm getting this book for my high school library.  I would also like to add to my digital collection.  The historic significance of this book helps teach all the importance of these songs and the human story connected to it.  Done in a beautiful fashion, this book is a welcome addition to any library.

Silent Days, Silent Dreams by Allen Say

Another beautiful book by Allen Say.  Add this on to your collection.  True story of a troubled artist, a boy who was  mute, deaf and autistic in the late 1800 early 1900s.  How do you communicate to a young boy like this?  Or do you?  Left alone, created his own friends by drawing characters and animals.  It's a good read.

Dazzle Ships : WWI And The Art of Confusion by Barton and Ngai

WWI had the dangerous situation of German U-boats torpedoing ships.  But one person came up with a plan to repaint the boats with designs to create an optical illusion that even tricked and convinced the King of England to give it a go.  The Illustrations of the book are brilliant and highly sophisticated.  The illustrations give it an art deco style.  I would award this book for it's content and illustrations.  Get this book for any school library.  You'll thank me later.

The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu

This is a lot of fantasy plus history through Austria, told by Nannerel Mozart's eyes.  I liked the duality of the two worlds, both dangerous in their own rights.  Her brother, Wolfgang, will grow up to be the famous composer and performer but for now he is her sickly brother.  The audio book is also very good.  Enjoy.

Maybe Something Beautiful by Campoy, Howell & Lopez

A beautiful simple but lovely book about community, art, imagination and bringing life into a neighborhood.  I would get for my high school library in hopes of mural projects.

Aru Shah and the End of Time by Roshani Chokshi

It's a good read.  Good for middle school.  It's great that many different cultures are being brought to life and this is a good add.  Enjoy.  It's a good read.

And We’re Off by Dana Schwartz

I liked this story.  It's a mother daughter story.  It's a find out who you really are story.  It's a travel to Europe story.  It's fine for high school.  I'm thinking I would like to buy for my high school library.  Enjoy.  Audio book also very good.

This would make a good gift for all sorts of inspirational events.  It's a sweet read.  Enjoy.
