Little Britches Horse of A Different Color by Ralph Moody

 

A wonderful coming of age story based on the life of the author.  This leaves me wanting more.  The audio book also very good.  Go back to the early 1900s and see life of a young man barely leaving boy hood when he had become the man of the house when he was 11, after his father has passed away.

Ralph has kindness, moral and ethical characteristics in his personality.  A good read.

Little Britches The Dry Divide By Ralph Moody

I love this series and I wish there were more.  I finished book 8 a few days ago.  Leaving me wanting more.  I admire how this reflection of the author's young life, is lessons about becoming a mature and responsible adult with compassion to others and bringing respect to those who may not always have respect.  It shows a different time, when the world was a bit smaller.  A good read and a good audio book.  Enjoy.

 

Little Britches Shaking the Nickel Bush by Ralph Moody

 

Ralph isn't even 21 yet and he takes the world in his hands and molds a beautiful and challenging life. Leaving his mother and siblings behind, he manages his diabetes by going back west, leaving Boston.  Not afraid to do hard work, smart and kind, Ralph would have been a neighbor you would want.  His life is incredible, in a world so different then modern times.  An excellent read.  Audio book also good enjoy.

Little Britches The Fields of Home by Ralph Moody

 I love this series.  I finished the series and wanted more.  Ralph Moody can be found on Wikipedia.

Go back to a simpler time and as Ralph navigates the world as an older teen, you would think he is much older.  A great read.

Little Britches Mary Emma & Company by Ralph Moody

 I love this series.  It's authentic of a time long ago.  The times are so different.  The people are so different and even the prices are different.  Sometimes, when I read this series, I wish I could go back to this time.  Late 1800s/early 1900s.  A good read. Enjoy.

Little Britches The Home Ranch by Ralph Moody

A great story of a young boy trying to support his family in the 1900's in Colorado.  It's a good read and the audio book is very good. 

Little Britches Man of the Family by Ralph Moody

It's a good read if you enjoy history and the West.  Family, community and Ralph are people you want to know.  Thank you Ralph Moody for writing this story series.  It's a good read and the audio book also good.

Prairie Lotus by Linda Sue Park

It's a good read for middle school and upper elementary school.  For those who enjoy Little House on the Prairie series, add this to young people's reading pleasure. 

Little Britches Father And I Were Ranchers by Ralph Moody

I loved this story and it's based on the childhood of Ralph Moody.  It's like Little House on the Prairie  for boys and those who love the ranching life.  It would be fine for any school library.  I don't know if it would appeal to a mass audience but it's a good read. And the audio book also very good. 

The Good Luck Girls by Charlotte Nicole Davis

It's a good read and I'm looking forward to the next installment.  I plan on getting this for my high school library.   Add this one for sure.  Enjoy.  Also audio book is well done.

Dread Nation by Justina Ireland

The audio book really captures a feel for an old west type life in this alternative historical fantasy that has zombies known as shufflers in this story.  A very clever book and great drama.  Fine for any high school library.  Enjoy.

Gunslinger Girl by Lynsay Ely

It's a western and dystopian set after the Second Civil War.  The audio book brings the book to life with a voice who does great accents.  Enjoy. Some mature topics but still good.

Vengeance Road Retribution Rails by Erin Bowman

A refreshing teen young adult western.  It's a good tale.  Enjoy.  Fine for any high school library.

I liked this book.  Growing up on westerns, it's nice that there are teens westerns out there.  Think True Grit with only the girl going after the baddies.  It's a good read.  Enjoy.

Dead Reckoning by Mercedes Lackey, Rosemary Edghill and Jane Hodson

I liked this story.  I hope the author's write another story.  The characters are entertaining and each character has a rich backstory.  This story is fine for any high school library.  I haven't seen the Walking Dead series but if you like an entertaining zombie story set as a western, then enjoy.

Fool Me Twice by Mandy Hubbard

This is a fun book to read.  A light hearted story with good characters and a sweet plot.  Mackenzie learns some life lessons but so does Landon.  Fine for any library.  It's a good read.  Entertaining and easy.

What if history was filled with magic?  America and Europe are so not the same.

The Case of the Deadly Desperados by Caroline Lawrence

This book has some wink-wink moments when reading this story.  One must suspend their belief of believing some of the circumstances involved in the events.  I continued to reading this story because the PK has the symptoms of a person with autism or Asperger's Syndrome and a friend of mine has a child that has Aspergers.  Different people of the history pop up conveniently at helpful times.  So the story is a bit contrived.  Also you get to visit an opium den and meet a soiled dove.  Again some more wink-wink reading.  It's an okay story.
