The Genius of Judy: How Judy Blume Rewrote Childhood for All of Us by Rachelle Bergstein

The Genius of Judy: How Judy Blume Rewrote Childhood for All of Us by Rachelle Bergstein Judy wrote books that were authentic and popular for teens and for adults. Sexual situations appropriate for children's readings has caused controversy and good for her to write books that teens want to or need to read. She also wrote for adults as well, reflecting on times and the changing of women's roles over the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80s. A good book to read.

Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult

Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult is a good read/audiobook. Wow!!!! When Covid hits it changed so many lives. A doctor in New York City is taking care of so many people and it's not good. Meanwhile his girlfriend is off on an island trapped by Covid and can not leave. She meets a man and his teen daughter and gets to see the island, not as a tourist but as a local. And then she has a life changing event that will forever redirect her life.

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling

THe Ex Hex is definitely adult with mature content. It's one sexy book. I got the book for free and I ended up listening to the audiobook. It's entertaining.

The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo

Leigh Bardugo is one of my favorite modern authors. The Familiar is definitely an adult book that takes you back in time to Spain and the Inquisition. People are being persecuted for dangerous reasons. A young servant girl, yearing for more then her dreary life, is caught making miracles and now is forced in to a competition. A mysterious man is helping her. Each has their secrets as she navigates around others who are also talented and equalling cunning. A good read and a good audiobook.

Tangled Up In You by Christina Lauren

Tangled Up In You is a charming contemporary take on Tangled/Rapunzel. Ren is a sweet sheltered naieve young woman who's parents have had absolutly complete control of her from her education and having her work her family farm. She's super smart and is able to go to the local college. She ends up taking a DNA test and that changes her life. The audiobook is also good.

Past Present Future by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Past Present Future is about two young adults heading to colleges, one in Boston and the other in New York. They are finding themselves apart from each other and reconnecting each time they are reunited. Not for High School libraries but perfect for public libraries. It also comes as an audiobook.

Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boyland

This is definitely an adult book which revolves around two teens. Mad Honey is told in two viewpoints, A mother who is a bee keeper and Lilly the girlfriend. They both have their secrets and they are revealed at court. It's a good story. I listened to the book and at the end both authors speak about their collaboration. It's a good read.

The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware

The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware is a great thriller. I do love a mystery. This one has it all. I did have one problem. Before the main character leaves, we don't know what arrangements she had for her cat before she left on cat to be cared for while she was away. A pet peeve. Other than that it was a good mystery.

Love, Off the Record by Samantha Markum

Love, Off the Record is a cute romcom to enjoy. Would I put it in my high school library, nope but fine for public libraries. I got to listen to this book and enjoyed it. I was entertained. A little predictable, think When Harry Met Sally and You Got Mail story lines and there you go.

The Library Thief by Kuchenga Shenje

The Library Thief is definitely adult. There is a rape scene just for a heads up. It's a good book but not for high school. A young woman is taken advantage of by an entitled man, brother of the man who hired her. Her father had kicked her out because she was with a man she thought she loved and it turns out he didn't love her. The girl also finds out she has a black mother. She didn't realize until later, since her mother died in childbirth. It's not an easy read. It's between Downton Abbey and Northanger Abbey. I listened to the audiobook. It's fine. A bit dark.

Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood

I did like this book. The voice actors did a great job on the audio book.  I would say read this book before you put it on the shelves at high school.  There is some off page mention of sex.  Just to give a heads up.

One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I liked the story line.  Her grief of losing her love, her husband in a tragic accident over the ocean and then finding love with another high school friend.  Her friend has been in love with her since the start of his meeting her.  I thought the story was put together well.  How would you figure out who you were suppose to be with?  Read and find out.  Definitely adult.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson

This final part is a nail bitter.  An excellent read of a young woman who is constantly being threaten and takes matters in to her own hands.  She does some things that are wrong and sets up a boy who has seriously hurt people and got away with it.  But in doing so she encounters a serial killer.  It's pretty intense.  A good read.

The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer

I thought this would be for Young Adult readers but I would say it would be more for adult.  Sort of reminds me of Space 2001 with the computer HAL add with some other science fiction films.  There's a mystery going on and when the two find the answer, they have to work together to survive.

American Betiya by Anuradha d. Rajurkar

Not for Public School libraries.  There's a lot of sneaking around, sex and an almost attempted suicide.

I read it all the way through but really wanted to do a DNF (Did not finish).  Before you put this in your library, read it and/or research before you get.
