As a teacher-librarian, I have the opportunity to read young adult books to share with my students. The list that I have provided will have an overview of the book and personal comments. They are on a Book-mercial style image to get a taste of the essence of the book.

The Whisperwood Legacy by Jo Schulte
The Whisperwood Legacy by Jo Schulte I could see this being made in to a Disney Plus series. IT's good and fine to add to any high school library. A bit Gothic, Dark and dangerous. Not a slasher story but it feels like the potential to be deadly. It's a good read.

The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden
The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden A paranormal story of two siblings caught in a war. A sister who is told her brother was killed in action. But she has reasons to believe he may still be alive. She returns as a nurse but also to search for her brother to find the truth.
The brother who is truly an artist and not a warrior, is trapped after an explosion with a German soldier. Together they work to survive. And even give sacrifice.
There is a demon who torments many lost souls and both siblings encounter this dangerous entity. I liked this story. It wasn't an easy listen to but at the end I thought it worked.

The Black Girl Survives in This One Desiree S. Evans (Editor) , Saraciea J. Fennell (Editor) , Brittney Morris (Contributor)
The Black Girl Survives in This One is a very smart collection of short stories. I plan on adding this one to my high school library. A good read. Enjoy.
My Happy Marriage, Vol. 4 My Happy Marriage (Manga) #4 by Akumi Agitogi, Rito Kohsaka with Tsukiho Tsukioka
My Happy Marriage, vol 4 is a graphic novel that is fine for high school libraries. It's a Cinderella story line of a daughter who had to be a servant in a well to do family. She has a jealous mean half sister. The young man she ends up engaged to, shows kindness and helps her build her confidence. As he quietly investigates her family, he makes a connection that her deceased mother may have been part of a secretive magical family. A good read.

The Village Library Demon-Hunting Society by C.M. Waggoner
The Village Library Demon-Hunting Society, was a story that I liked listening to. She has a cat that turns out to be possed by a ghost that helps her fight the demon. She has friends who also help her. Sherry Pinkwhistle isn't perfect and has her own personal demons while fighting an actual demon. I thought this was an entertaining spoof on cozy murder mysteires

Within These Wicked Walls by Lauren Blackwood
Within These Wicked Walls give the feel of Jane Eyre just a little bit. Paranormal beings, murders, ammulents and more plus a bit of romance. Did I like the story? No, it was dark and gloomy. Wasn't my cup of tea.

Sheine Lende by Darcie Little Badger
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/190854829-sheine-lende
I am impressed with this story. THe audio book is well done. This is the story of a teen who goes in search of missing people and then it becomes more personal when her mother goes missing. Told in Sheine's perspective and filled with backstories that fit in perfectly. A good book to add to any high school library. A good read for sure!

Jackaby The Dire King by William Ritter
It all comes to an end with this final installment. Or is it???? hmmm. It's fine to add this dark paranormal story to a high school library. A good read and a good listen. Enjoy.
Jackaby Ghostly Echoes By William Ritter
If the TV show Supernatural show was set in the late 1800's/early 1900s, you would have the Jackaby series. It's a great read. A dark read but also really good. I plan on getting the series for my school library. Audio book also good. Enjoy.
Jackaby Beastly Bones by William Ritter
This is a great series. A bit dark. If you like the TV show Supernatural, then take that and send it to the late 1800's / early 1900's. It's a smart series and would do great to grace the shelves of high school libraries anywhere. Enjoy. Audio book also good.

Jackaby by William Ritter
I found a new series to enjoy. Smartly written, with snappy dialog and dark mystery. The two team well and no romance between them. A good read, enjoy. Fine for any high school library.
Remarkables by Margaret Peterson Haddix
A good read for older elementary and middle school students. A girl dies because of a prank going wrong and that dominoes off to the one who caused the prank to spiral down into drugs. It's a good read.
