The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden

The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden A paranormal story of two siblings caught in a war. A sister who is told her brother was killed in action. But she has reasons to believe he may still be alive. She returns as a nurse but also to search for her brother to find the truth. The brother who is truly an artist and not a warrior, is trapped after an explosion with a German soldier. Together they work to survive. And even give sacrifice. There is a demon who torments many lost souls and both siblings encounter this dangerous entity. I liked this story. It wasn't an easy listen to but at the end I thought it worked.

The Little Liar by Mitch Albom

The Little Liar by Mitch Albom starts off in Greece, during the Holocaust. Two young brothers and a girl that is friends with them are caught up in the Holocaust. One brother hid during the round up of Jews in Greece and accidentally told lies to those going on to the train to take them away to the death camps. Finding out the truth, spurs him to save his family and starts his journey, learning multiple languages. The older brother, works in the camp trying to save his father and grandfather. A German Nazi also starts in Greece and ends up as the director of the death camp. The story continues as the characters weave their stories together as time continues. The audiobook also very good. An excellent read.

How I Became A Spy by Deborah Hopkinson

Everything was a bit to pat in this story.  He meets the right people, they have the right skills.
It was alright.  It's fine for any library  Just not my favorite.  It wasn't believable for me.

The Sixties Trilogy Anthem by Deborah Wiles

This is a brilliant story.  Each section of the book has newspapers, magazines, quotes and photos to set up each part of the story.  Actually primary resources.  Then the chapters are set up by a music title from the 1968 with information about the music and then the story picks up.  I had Alexa from Amazon play the music.  The story is brilliant and perfect.  I'm getting this for my high school library.  This is when the Vietnam War is going on.  In this story, we meet various soldiers, civil rights, hippies, communes and more.  Such a fantastic story.

I Survived The American Revolution, 1776 by Lauren Tarshis

This is a good book for elementary school.  The book is very simply written to tell the story of the young boy living in 1776 in the time of all the action and battle.  The deadliness of life at this time.
The audio book also good.

Soldier For Equality by Duncan Tonatiuh

I bought this for my high school library.  This is the second title I have gotten from Duncan Tonatiuh.  I love his style of illustrations.  Refreshing and yet connects to the art of ancient MesoAmerica.  I also appreciate the connection of bringing real people who made a difference in the world to life.  Add this book to your school library.  It's a good one.

Craig & Fred by Craig Grossi

You had me at dog.  This is a marine's story of how a dog from Afghanistan came to be in the US.  Fred means so much to Craig.  A good dog is worth the challenges.  Enjoy this book. Also includes tributes to fallen fellow soldiers.  Fine for high school.
