As a teacher-librarian, I have the opportunity to read young adult books to share with my students. The list that I have provided will have an overview of the book and personal comments. They are on a Book-mercial style image to get a taste of the essence of the book.

Written in the Stars by Aisha Saeed
This book is amazing. The story gave me a stomachache because I was emotionally invested in it. A must read and add to any high school library. Audio book also very good. Add this one to your library.

Meet Yasmin by Saadia Faruqi
Add this to your elementary school library. It's an easy read with big letters and lots of great graphics. Celebrate a little girl who knows herself and has great confidence. And a bonus, you can read a little bit about the Pakistani culture. Enjoy!

I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai
This book should be in every library. It is an important read. The audio book also very good. It's hard to imagine a world where education is being squashed. Especially for young girls. Malala bring her reality to life as she carefully explains her world and how it changes when the Taliban takes over her town. The sacrifices her family made, the dangers and even the deaths. Malala stands up to bullies. Her strengths and beliefs make a difference. Her courage makes a difference. She is a role model for all.
