Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers is a great story. I loved this story and look forward to the next book! A smart cozy murder mystery. Vera is a charming pushy lady that feeds her suspects while trying to find out who the killer is. She is smart and pays attention to all the little details. She is also a very kind lady. Enjoy this great story. A delight to read or listen to the audiobook.

Not Here to Be Liked by Michelle Quach

Not Here To Be Liked, is a story line that I ended up liking. The story line grew on me. It's fine for high school libraries.

Lunar New Year Love Story by Gene Luen Yang , LeUyen Pham (Illustrations)

Lunar New Year Love Story is a great book to add to high school libraries. A graphic novel about two boys who really like Valentina. They are cousins who also have their own problems. Valentina loves Valentine's Day until she finds out her father's secret. Her grandmother sets her straight and then more secrets come out. A good book to add to for teens to read.

The Girl with No Reflection by Keshe Chow

The Girl With No Reflection is a fantasy romantic adventure story. In someways it's good but there is some plot errors that weren't explained away. There are also some f*bombs that weren't really necesary. It's okay but I felt it was a bumpy story.

A Thousand Steps Into Night by Traci Chee

 

This is a great book to add to your high school library.  It's a good read and is set in a medieval Asian culture.  Add this one to your library collection.  The audio book also very good.  Enjoy.

49 Days by Agnes Lee

An insight into a Buddhist belief of the journey that the dead will take. The book does a good job illustrating about the death of a Korean-American girl and how her family and friends miss her.

Tamamo the Fox Maiden & Other Asian Stories by many authors

 A variety of Asian legends turned into graphic novel.  I have this one in my library on display.  A variety of styles and author/illustrators.  A good read.  Add this one to your library too!

The Floating Field by Scott Riley

Add this picture book to your middle school library.  It's based on a true story of a group of boys who have a passion of to play soccer but live on a small island with no ground to play on.  They end up building their own field on the water.  Read this story and be inspired.

Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean

 I look forward to book 2 on this sweet series.  You have to adore this spunky Japanese American girl as she goes to Japan and learns that there are differences in her culture and Japanese.  She also meets a body guard that she becomes friends with.  She makes an impression in her new world.  a good read.

The Joy Luck Club By Amy Tan

This is now a long classic book taught in high school.  I had seen the movie years ago and just finished the audio book.  Loaded with conflict, secrets, hope and over all love.  A good story to enjoy, learn and understand culture and families.  
 

Eyes That Kiss In the Corners by Ho & Ho

Add this one to your children's library.  A great book to connect with family.  This picture book is told in sweet simple verse.  A good book to read aloud.
 

I Love You So Mochi by Sarah Kuhn

 I am adding this to my library.  Travel to Japan with Kimi as she meets her grand parents for the first time.  As she figures out what she wants to do and study, she finds out the magic of Japan, and learn more about her culture and family stories and meets a cute boy.  It's perfect for high school.  Enjoy.

The Rent Collector by Camron Wright

 This is a must read and will be in my high school.  If you know the history of Cambodia in the 1970s  and all the harm that was done, you will truly appreciate the book.  If you are new to the Cambodian history, again a must read.  It's about the power of the gift of reading, about gendercide and about redemption.  THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL BOOK/STORY.  A few years ago, I was able to visit Cambodia.  Our hired driver, was happy that we were all teachers.  He was a survivor of the tragic atrocities.  His  adult children had become teachers.  This is important because if you were a teacher in the 70s you were done.  

The Weight of Our Sky by Hanna Alkaf

Wow.  The author has talked to many people who have survived this violent time.  So many people were killed that the government had to create a mass burial.  Melati has a mental condition, formed after the death of her father, a policeman killed on duty.  Her mother is a nurse.  There is a lot of violence in this story.  This story was written in a way that it takes you there back in time.  With the tread of music to tie it all together.  History becomes alive in this very scary time.  Get this one for your high school library.

Avatar The Last Airbender The Rise of Kyoshi by F. C. Yee

It's a good read.  A page turner.  The characters and plot well developed and the action and game plan are well described.  It's a good read and I will get for my high school library.  Enjoy.

Red Winter by Annette Marie

I liked this series and was able to listen to the audio book.  I am going to get the book for my high school library.  I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.  Enjoy.

Pippa Park Raises Her Game by Erin Yun

I liked the story and it is fine for any elementary and middle school library.  It's a little bit predictable.   You got a like Pippa and cringe when she digs herself in to trouble.  She's a good kid trying to make her world work.  I also like that it is an opportunity to learn more about the Korean culture.  It's a good read.  Enjoy.

A Place To Belong by Cynthia Kadohata

This is a really good book that I am going to add to my high school library.  It brings history alive and gives it personal connection.  The audio book also very good.  Watching the big sister grow up and connect with various people and handling hard times.  Add this to your reading list.

Song of the Crimson Flower by Julie C. Dao

I'm at home and listen to the audio book of this story.  My school is closed due to the Corvirus.  This book fits right in to all the events that take place.  Go to a time in an Asian type land when things were much more simpler.  There's a girl a guy and a love story under the umbrella of a plague hitting their world.  It's a good read.  I'm getting the book through J L Guild.  I was able to listen to the audio book.  This is a good one.  Add it to your shelves. 

The Beast Player by Nahoko Uehashi

It's a magical journey in which a young girl grows up to be a young woman who can reach out to dangerous but yet very special creatures.  It's a great read.  I would love to get for my high school library.  Audio book also very good.  Enjoy.
