The Disappearing Spoon is a very interesting book. Besides print, it also comes as an audiobook. It's really filled with lots of information about elements of chemistry and the people who were involved with the subject. Fine for any library.

Song for a Whale by Lynne Kelly

Song for a Whale by Lynn Kelly is a great book for middle school students. The author has background experience interpreting for hearing impaired students. She also did some research on an actual hybrid whale that is known as the loneliest whale because of it's song is a different frequency then regular whales. The audiobook is also good. Enjoy.

Cougar Crossing by Meeg Pincus and Alexander Vidal

 

This is a good book about humans and the environment as it tells the story of a mountain lion in the Los Angeles area.  True story and still on going.  It's up for a California Young Readers Medal Award.

The Blackbird Girls by Anne Blankman

 

This is a book that will be on the list for California Young Reader Medal.  It's a great story that uses two time lines at the same time.  The nuclear reactor accident of the 1980s and World War II escaping the Germans.  Its about friendship, surviving dangerous and what really is family.  I liked this book a lot and even though it is middle school level, it's great to teach about history as well.  Add this to your school library.  It's a good read.  The audio book is also well done.  Good voice actor.

Across the Airless Wilds by Earl Swift

 This is an informational book that covers the moon exploration and the devices the astronauts used to get to the moon.  I enjoyed reading about the rover trips as they were designed and fixed and used to scoot around the moon.  It's a good read or listen to (audio book), probably not for everyone, but if you know someone who is in to space exploration and the moon, this book would be great for them.

Honeybee by Fleming & Rohmann

 This beautiful picture book will be on my shopping list for my high school library.  Picture books can bring concise information in beautiful illustrations.

The brain by David Eagleman

 Easy to read or listen to the audio books.  Filled with studies and facts to make the brain intereting.

David Eagleman writes to regular people and it all makes sense.  He has done his research well.  A good read.

A Life on Our Planet by David Attenborough

 I'm adding this one to my high school library.  It is an important read.  If you don't know how our planet is doing because of our behavior.  This is the book you need to read.

Apollo’s Arrow by Nicholas A Christakis

 This is an important read.  I highly recommend it.  I think it would be great in college, public and law libraries.  I am tempted to get this for my high school library.  It's a good read and a good audio book.  

Terrible Typhoid Mary by Susan Campbell Bartoletti

 Wow, I'm adding this to my high school library.  True story.  I had always had heard bits of the story but not on Mary's side.  A balanced book and well researched,  A good one to put on your library shelves.

Dinosaur Lady by Skeers & Miguens

 

Add this picture book to your school libraries of all grades including high school.  Great illustrations with text that is well thought out to read about Mary Anning.  A good read.  Enjoy.

Get Well Soon by Jennifer Wright

 

History may repeat itself and does.  Go back in time hundreds of years and travel up to 2017 as pandemics and dangerous viruses have made a big impact in the world.  Audio book also very good. 

Goodnight Lab by Chris Ferrie

It's a great picture book for any ages.  I'm buying this for my neighbor young adult who is a chemistry major.  I think it will make him a great gift.  If you are a science fan, add this to your collection.  Enjoy.

Very, Very, Very Dreadful by Albert Marrin

Oh my goodness.  What a read.  Audio book also good.  I am getting this for my school library.  What's scary is that we are now in a Pandemic and the same thing is happening all over again.  This is an important read.  Put this one on your list.  Read as soon as possible.  I think presidents, people in the White House and the federal government should read this.  Governors and school boards too.

Incognito The Secret Lives of the Brain by David Eagleman

If you are interested in learning about the brain, this would be a good book to read or listen to.  I was curious so I read and am glad I did.

If You Were The Moon by Salas & Kim

It's fine.  There is a sweet part in the illustrations.  The playful side on page is balanced with science facts on the facing page. 

Rocks & Minerals by Seymour Simon

Have a rock hound in your world?  This would be a great book to add to their library.  This would be good for reference and check out to any school library.  The photos are beautiful and the reading is perfect for young children and teens.

Our House Is On Fire by Thunberg, Thunberg, Ernman & Ernman

Go with this family and journey with them from having a very special daughter who finds her voice that rocked the world about being stewards for the environment and fighting politics. It is a good read.

The Line Tender by Kate Allen

It's a good story.  Sharks are so fascinating and the information about the sharks is set up to come naturally in the story.  The story is about a girl dealing with grief when her friend dies.  It's a good story and fine for any library.

Power Up Your Incredible, Spectacular, Supernova Body by Fishman & Greenberg

Picture book about how cool our body is.  A great way to start a unit or do a lit circle for young people.  Fine for any school library for young people.
