Molly the Maid #1 The Maid by Nita Prose

Molly the Maid #1 The Maid by Nita Prose is an interesting murder mystery. Not really a cozy one. Molly works at a hotel. Her ill grandmother has passed away, she's behind in her rent and she clearly is in the spectrum and has trouble reading people's expressions is a good natured and always helpful young woman of 25 years. She accidentally gets involved with a murder when she finds a regular guest dead in the hotel room she cleans. Told in her perspective, she goes from an innocent trusting woman to a woman accused of murder. It's an interesting read. There are mixed reviews. I'm on the cusp and I would read another sequel to the series.

The Fire, the Water, and Maudie McGinn by Sally J. Pla

The Fire, the Water, and Maudie McGinn by Sally J. Pla It's a good book to add to any school library. It's not often you come across a character that is a girl in the autistic spectrum.

Aaron Tucker As Dog Is My Witness by Jeffrey Cohen

I think I found a new series in the world of cozy murder mysteries.  A good read and brings you into the world of Asperger.  The main character is the father of a teen with Asperger.  I like how the teen helps on the case.

The Love Letters of Abelard & Lily by Laura Creedle

The two have lots of text conversations which are quite advance for regular teens.  They are great conversations but they sound more adult rather then teens.  Both Lilly and Abelard have outbursts that relate to the way their brains work.  It's a good read and fine for high school libraries.

A Boy Called Bat by Elana K. Arnold

I would say that Bat is in the Autism Spectrum.  It's not stated but he reminds me of many students that I have worked with.  It's a sweet book and fine for any young library.  It is book 1 and was published in 2017  I would say it is for grades: 3-6  It's a great addition to any young people's library.  Enjoy.

The Thing about Jelly Fish by Ali Benjamin

It's a good book.  Suzy reminds me of someone in the spectrum.  She has trouble relating to people, sharing facts that are ill timed or inappropriate.  When tragedy strikes, she and her former best friend had a huge falling out.  Now she is dealing with grief and students who bully her.  It's a good read.

Navigating Early by Clare Vanderpool

It's a very smart book and worth the read.  Early is autistic but back in this time frame that the story takes place, he's just considered strange.  Think a modern Huckleberry Finn adventure.  They meet dangerous people, they meet lonely people and find dangerous experiences.  It's an excellent read.

The Moves Make The Man by Bruce Brooks

This has so many layers to it.  It's about Jerome and his family.  It's about Bix and his family.  I have a feeling Bix might be in the Autistic spectrum. It's about racism. It's about mental health, and suicide.  It's about basketball and baseball.  It's about facing the truth.  It is a good read but a difficult read as well.

Marcelo in the Real World by Francisco X. Stork

This isn't always an easy read but it's an important read.  Give you insight on what people think even if they aren't always sharing.  Some moral situations.  A coming of age story.  A good book for any library.  Will not be for everyone.  But it would be important to have in your library.

Dear John by Nicholas Sparks

It's not an easy book to read sometimes but it is a good story.  It's a coming of age for a young man who finds love, real love for the first time in his life.  How it changes his life. It's perfect for any library.

Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan

Red is Willow's favorite color. 7 is Willow's favorite number.  Willow is a very interesting girl.  She brings people together in a very special way.  This is a strong story line with very diverse characters.  It's about connecting in the nature of life.  Perfect for any library shelf.  If you have a very special person in your life that may be in the spectrum, this might be a book to consider.

The Case of the Deadly Desperados by Caroline Lawrence

This book has some wink-wink moments when reading this story.  One must suspend their belief of believing some of the circumstances involved in the events.  I continued to reading this story because the PK has the symptoms of a person with autism or Asperger's Syndrome and a friend of mine has a child that has Aspergers.  Different people of the history pop up conveniently at helpful times.  So the story is a bit contrived.  Also you get to visit an opium den and meet a soiled dove.  Again some more wink-wink reading.  It's an okay story.
