The Genius of Judy: How Judy Blume Rewrote Childhood for All of Us by Rachelle Bergstein

The Genius of Judy: How Judy Blume Rewrote Childhood for All of Us by Rachelle Bergstein Judy wrote books that were authentic and popular for teens and for adults. Sexual situations appropriate for children's readings has caused controversy and good for her to write books that teens want to or need to read. She also wrote for adults as well, reflecting on times and the changing of women's roles over the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80s. A good book to read.

The Girl Who Fell from the Sky by Heidi W. Durrow

The Girl Who Fell From the Sky is a good story but not at a teen level. FYI there are some negative words and some dangerous situations. Rachel is found with her mother and siblings after fallen from the roof of an apartment. The story is told in multiple viewpoints. We watch her grow up to be a young teen. She's light skinned, blue eyes and is targeted because of her different looks. Find out what happened to cause a family to come to a tragic ending and with one survivor. A good read and a good audiobook.

Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult

Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult is a good read/audiobook. Wow!!!! When Covid hits it changed so many lives. A doctor in New York City is taking care of so many people and it's not good. Meanwhile his girlfriend is off on an island trapped by Covid and can not leave. She meets a man and his teen daughter and gets to see the island, not as a tourist but as a local. And then she has a life changing event that will forever redirect her life.

The Brightwood Code by Monica Hesse

THe Ex Hex is definitely adult with mature content. It's one sexy book. I got the book for free and I ended up listening to the audiobook. It's entertaining.

The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo

Leigh Bardugo is one of my favorite modern authors. The Familiar is definitely an adult book that takes you back in time to Spain and the Inquisition. People are being persecuted for dangerous reasons. A young servant girl, yearing for more then her dreary life, is caught making miracles and now is forced in to a competition. A mysterious man is helping her. Each has their secrets as she navigates around others who are also talented and equalling cunning. A good read and a good audiobook.

Ren is a sweet sheltered naieve young woman who's parents have had absolutly complete control of her from her education and having her work her family farm. She's super smart and is able to go to the local college. She ends up taking a DNA test and that changes her life. The audiobook is also good.

The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware

The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware is a great thriller. I do love a mystery. This one has it all. I did have one problem. Before the main character leaves, we don't know what arrangements she had for her cat before she left on cat to be cared for while she was away. A pet peeve. Other than that it was a good mystery.

The Library Thief by Kuchenga Shenje

The Library Thief is definitely adult. There is a rape scene just for a heads up. It's a good book but not for high school. A young woman is taken advantage of by an entitled man, brother of the man who hired her. Her father had kicked her out because she was with a man she thought she loved and it turns out he didn't love her. The girl also finds out she has a black mother. She didn't realize until later, since her mother died in childbirth. It's not an easy read. It's between Downton Abbey and Northanger Abbey. I listened to the audiobook. It's fine. A bit dark.
