The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer

I loved this book. It has several different layers and they all work. It's a sweet story and perfect for a holiday movie. The Whishing Game is a home run. More an Adult reader but would be fine for high school students to read also. I wouldn't really put it in a high school library but it's a fine book for teens to also read.

The Mother Daughter Book Club by Heather Vogel Frederick

 First in the series that I am reading.  Fine for middle school.  If I had a middle school library, I would add.  I like the diversity of characters, different backgrounds, cultures and finances.  I like how it tied to the book, Little Women.  A good read.

Gone To The Woods by Gary Paulsen

 This book is fantastic.  It's Gary Paulsen's story told simply but elegantly.  A hard life, a mother who neglects him and a father who turns to alcohol.  Learning to make it on his own at a very young age.  A good read.

Once Upon A Con Bookish and the Beast by Ashley Poston

 Cute story fine for any high school library.  It's a take off of Beauty and the Beast.  Enjoy

How to Read Literature Like A Professor by Thomas Foster

 We use this book with our high school students.  Especially for AP literature students.  I found an audio book version in one of my public libraries.  I'm thinking of adding the audio version with our overdrive school collection.  A good read.  Nice to be refreshed, the audio book is pretty darn charming.  Written in a very friendly style.

Miss Brooks’ Story Nook by Bottner and Emberley

 

A great picture book to add to the library.  Encourages reading, imagination and facing bullies.  

The Rent Collector by Camron Wright

 This is a must read and will be in my high school.  If you know the history of Cambodia in the 1970s  and all the harm that was done, you will truly appreciate the book.  If you are new to the Cambodian history, again a must read.  It's about the power of the gift of reading, about gendercide and about redemption.  THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL BOOK/STORY.  A few years ago, I was able to visit Cambodia.  Our hired driver, was happy that we were all teachers.  He was a survivor of the tragic atrocities.  His  adult children had become teachers.  This is important because if you were a teacher in the 70s you were done.

Banned This Book by Alan Gratz

This charming book will be a welcome addition to any elementary school library.  It's a good read and a smart read as well.  Okay book by Alan Gratz is brilliant for young and teen readers.  You will fall in love with the charm of this sweet little girl who only wants to be left alone and read.  She learns to speak out while her family also learns a few lessons.  It's a good read.

Add this one to your library.  It's a good read aloud.  Enjoy.
