This is a surprise historical event that not many people know about. Well documented based on a great grandmother and lots of primary resources to tell an amazing tale of unsung heroes of World War I. Decades before cell phones and smart phones, operators ran switchboards to connect parties on the phone. These young women braved the war front in France to help orders/information get moved from one battle front to another. I nominated this for CYRM picture book for older readers this next year.
