The Storm Runner by J. C. Cervantes

The audiobook is a great listen to and the story is perfect for those who enjoy mythology.  If you enjoy Rick Riordan's work then add this to your book shelf.  Set in New Mexico, in current times and the fantasy adventure begins with Mayan gods and prophecies.  Enjoy.  Fine for any school library.

Higher is Waiting by Tyler Perry

I liked this book. The audio book was also very good.  Tyler Perry is a good role model and his faith serves him well.  Or he serves his faith well.  It's a positive book about family, some abuse and a role model for others.  I plan on getting this book for my high school library.

Full of Beans by Jennifer L. Holm

The audiobook is a great listen.  I know the book is also.  Blended with history, this story should be in all libraries.  Enjoy reading about Beans.  It's a good read.

Strange the Dreamer Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

I enjoyed this fantasy a lot but I don't think that I would put it in a high school library.  There are a few scenes in the story that might be a bit much.  It's perfect for public libraries and personal libraries.  Enjoy.

Swing by Kwame Alexander

This is a must for all high school libraries.  Read all the way to the end.  You'll need a hanky.  It's a powerful read about friendship and love interests and family.

Gone Monster by Michael Grant

Just when you thought that it would be safe, new dangers and old dangers are back ready to take over the world.  It's a good read.  Enjoy.

Darius The Great Is Not Okay by Adib Khorram

I liked this book.  Is it for everyone?  No but I think I will put it in my high school.  There is one problem when Darius becomes self conscious about his body.  He is half of two different cultures.  It's an excellent book on so many levels.

How to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind: Dealing with Your House's Dirty Little Secrets by Dana K. White

I liked this book about organizing life and home.  It's honest and funny and some good perspectives.  I will have to check out her blog. Enjoy.

EntreLeadership by Dave Ramsey

I like Dave Ramsey,  I think he knows what he is talking about.  He's been wealthy, then broke and then wealthy again.  There are some good leadership suggestions.

Ghosts of the Shadow Market: An Anthology of Tales

Backstories on various characters in a short story version written by multiple authors.  It's a good read.  On the image are several of the different stories.  These are just a sample of what to enjoy.

On Writing A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King

I really liked this book.  I listened to the audio and I believe Stephen King was the one speaking on the audiobook.  This book is fine for any high school library.  Enjoy

Gone Light By Michael Grant

Xmen meets Lord of the Flies with this series.  Now adults can look in and see if their child has survived or not.  Lots of violence and death.  The series is a dark series but it's a good one.  The series is fine for high school libraries.

Gone Fear by Michael Grant

It's Xmen meets Lord of the Flies and throw in a bit of Stephen King.  It's a dark dystopian story of an alien, a group of kids with out adults and trying to survive.  There is some violence but it is fine for high school libraries.

Gone Plague by Michael Grant

Think Lord of the Flies meets the Xmen.  The book is fine for high school students.  There is some fighting for survival.  The story line is addictive.  Enjoy.

Gone Lies by Michael Grant

It's a modern telling of Xmen meets the Lord of the Flies.  Heads up there is violence in the struggle to survive, finding food and water and beware of Drake.  A kid who is out to kill with his arm that has been turned into a whip.  He is unstoppable.

The Abyss surrounds us The Edge of the Abyss by Emily Skrutskie

It's a different book and a different style of story telling.  Perhaps not for everyone but I think some readers will enjoy.  Fine for high school libraries.  I think the second book is stronger then the first.  Enjoy.

My Weird School My Weird Writing Tips by Dan Gutman

I liked the book and would think about putting it in my high school library as a resource.  Or for a writing club for kids/teens.  It's a helpful resource.

We Now Return to Regular Life by Martin Wilson

Oh boy.  Such a powerful read.  I wouldn't put in a high school library because of some the scenes and content.  But it is a good read and stays with you for days later.  So much guilt and sadness.  The author captures the story vividly.  It reminds me of real life when years ago a famous case of kidnapping and then the child appeared years later up in Atwater.  Powerful read.

Everland Umberland by Wndy Spinale

I liked this story thread so far.  I jumped in the middle of the story.  I will have to start at the beginning.  It's teens saving the world in a mash up of different characters with adjustment in names but you can recognize who their inspirations were.  There are a few sexy moments as well but nothing to worry over.  The story is fine for high school libraries.  Enjoy.

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

I read this book years ago.  It has never left me.  I'm posting it now because of what is going on in the news.  This past week, I've been in some interesting conversations about a candidate for supreme court of the US.  In the 1980s he was accused of sexually assaulting several women and now  after all these years he is facing his accusers.  This happened when he was in high school.  There is a movie called Sixteen Candles from the 1980s, there is a reference to a rape scene as well.  After all these years..... well, I just want my students to have the power to say something and maybe help people by sharing this book.  If anything has happened to you or your friends, please, please, please get help and talk to an adult you can trust.
