It great story that is about a young girl who is tired of going to the salon to get her hair straightened. She does what she can to undo the salon treatment to get her hair back to a natural state, like the way her aunt does her hair. Her mother grew up in a generation trying to fit in and Marelene is breaking out like her aunt. It's a good book to add to any middle school library or upper elementary.
