Overall I liked this book and it is fine for high school libraries. It would have been nice if there were more Evalinas in the world, especially during this time. But this character can be an inspiration because we still need more Evalinas. Two teens in love, from different cultures hide their love as they are pulled apart when Japan bombs Pearl Harbor. Facing racial bullying and even with in one's own culture, it's a good read. Fine to add to any high school library.
