As a teacher-librarian, I have the opportunity to read young adult books to share with my students. The list that I have provided will have an overview of the book and personal comments. They are on a Book-mercial style image to get a taste of the essence of the book.

The Only Black Girls in Town by Brandy Colbert
Add this one to your middle school library. A perfect book about being girls in middle school and having different backgrounds. When another black girl shows up but is way different because of the New York City Vibe and a dad who is divorced for her mom and rarely shows up because of his job, the dynamics change between the kids in school. The mystery of the journals gets them interested in researching who this person is based on clues left behind in the journal. A good read. An important read.
