Not A Sound by Heather Gudenkauf

This is a thriller in the making.  Very suspenseful and told in the perspective of a recovering alcoholic deaf woman.  The author knows her deaf world and writes with knowledge. A real page turner with lots of tension to keep the story tight.  A good read and a good listen.

Tales from the Hinterland by Melissa Albert

I love the dark German Grimm Brothers collection of fairy tales.  This is a new collection of fairy tales that are dark and grim.  A good read.

Farm to Fork Have A Deadly New Year by Lynn Cahoon

This novella is entertaining if you enjoy murder mysteries.  The characters are back and make it's a good read.  Enjoy and note the audio book also good.

The Lives of Saints by Leigh Bardugo

I am a fan of this author and this book ties into her series but is also independent of the series as well.

The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna

I did like this story and look forward to reading the next one.  A fantasy with a fresh new world. It's where the monsters have their own story.  A good audio book too!

An American Sunrise Poems by Joy Harjo

With poetry like this that tells the authentic story, events, emotions and more, it helps us understand better what it is like to be of a certain nation of people.  The Native Americans have much to tell and this is a good starting point.  The audio book is well worth listening to.

No 1 Ladies Detective Agency How To Raise An Elephant by Alexander McCall Smith

I love this series.  I would love to travel to Botswana just because I've been reading this series.  HBO made a short lived series based on this series of books.  Jill Scott, was the lead and the whole cast was wonderful.  Enjoy this series and meet a wonderful lady, who happens to be the Number One Detective. Also the audio books are very good and help with the pronunciation of some of the words.

The Curse of the Night Witch by Alex Aster

I wasn't impressed with this story.  It didn't flow naturally or with believably.  Rather just forced.

I'm sure it'll entertain some readers but I am going to pass on this story.

The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls

This story is a good one.  For adults but would be fine for teens as well.  This story haunted me for a few days. This is my third book, I've read by Jeannette Walls.  I'm a fan and will keep reading her books as they come out.  The audio book also very good.

James Herriot’s Animal Stories

I grew up watching the original PBS series and am delighted that PBS remade it years later.  Being a farm girl, now teaching at an FFA school, I think I might get this series for my library.  This is a bonus book with additional stories.  Enjoy.

Operation Paperclip by Annie Jacobsen

A very important book to learn about history.  Men who should have been executed for crimes against humanity.  I was surprised at what the US government did to work with these people.  Very interesting book.

Gone To The Woods by Gary Paulsen

This book is fantastic.  It's Gary Paulsen's story told simply but elegantly.  A hard life, a mother who neglects him and a father who turns to alcohol.  Learning to make it on his own at a very young age.  A good read.

The Kitchen Front by Jennifer Ryan

I loved this book.  The relationship between the four women and the rest of the world just become strengthened.  Relationships grow and change as this story and competition progress.  A  good read.

Living the Confidence Code by Lay, Shipman & Riley

It doesn't matter what your age is, you can make a difference.  And in this book we have a collection of young girls and women who saw needs and experiences and made a difference in their lives and as well as others.  a good read.  Add this one to your high school library.

Odd Gods by David Slavin

I didn't really care for this book.  I don't like mixing mythology in this circumstance.  I think it would be a bit confusing between the traditional mythology and the recreate mythology.  I like Rick Riordan which spins mythology in a modern story and is clear that it borrows from ancient mythology but also makes it his own.

Brother Cadfael Monk’s Hood by Ellis Peters

A medieval mystery.  It's smart and different.  Cadfael, is the ancient Sherlock Holmes, using observation and wit to learn information and set traps.  A good read.  enjoy.

Book Retreat Mystery Murdered in the locked Library by Ellery Adams

It's an entertaining mystery.  A bit over the top but fun to meet the different characters.  Enjoy.

The Archer by Paulo Coelho

I liked this book.  It's simple and short but sometimes we need a lesson reflecting about life.

A good read.  Enjoy.

Louise , The Adventures of a Chicken by DiCamillo & Bliss

It's a cute story that is fine for any children's library.  Also a good read aloud.  Enjoy.

The Opposite of Spoiled by Ron Lieber

Parent's need to have an open conversation that is appropriate to their child's age.  How do you do that?  Read this book.  It's a good starting point.  Get the book, well worth it.  Audio book also good.

The Hug by McLaughlin & Dunbar

This is a sweet story / picture book for young people to enjoy.  Perfect for any school elementary library.  A good read aloud.  Enjoy.

Ready Player One Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline

A lot of reference to the 80's, bands, movies, games and more.  The story is set way past the 80's.  I would love to meet Ernest Cline and hear how he came up with this book.  The first book was good and I think this is even better.  Read the first to get the second.  There is a bit of sex and drugs mentioned so I would say not for high school libraries.  But for personal read and public libraries, perfect. Audio book is also good read by Wil Wheaton, an actor who started his career in the 80's as a young one.  He does a great job reading the book.  enjoy.

The Lifeboat Clique by Kathy Parks

Told in flashbacks, the story of two girls now in high school.  A huge wave, a tsunami, hits the coast and the girls are at a party with a huge group of teens at the coast.  Five teens make it on a boat and are stuck in the ocean for days.  Will they make it?  You'll have to read to find out.

Frost by M. P. Kozlowsky

This is two Will Smiths movies mixed together Legend and I Robot.  At least that is how I would describe it.  A dark world is where Frost lives in.  She's been sheltered all her life guided by her robot /father.  Now like Rapunzel who wants to see the world and save her dog, she encounters a scary world.

Bakeshop Mystery Nothing Bundt Trouble by Ellie Alexander

A good read to enjoy if you like murder mystery series to enjoy.

Kitchen Witch Mystery One Poison Pie By Lynn Cahoon

A cute read with a bit of romance. I'm addicted to murder mysteries.  Lynn Cahoon is one of my favorite murder mystery authors.  Enjoy.

Alone On The Wall by Alex Honnold

I was able to hear Jimmy Chin talk about filming this experience.  I live close to Yosemite so this was one big story.  Rightly so.  I listened to the audio book.  A good read for people who are interested in adventure.  Enjoy.

Ancestor Approved edited by Cynthia Lettich Smith

I am adding this to my school library.  It's a good read and the stories thread together.  Love the dog that pops up in the stories.  I learned a lot through the view of the Native writers.  Thank you for sharing about culture with the rest of the reading world.  The audio book also very good.  Enjoy.

Bad Bella by Ali Standish

I have rescue dogs and have rescued strays so this story was touching for me.  The story is told in Bella's point of view.  You find out what she is thinking and what she experienced.  A good book to teach children about taking care of dogs.  Fine for any school library.
