Pam Munoz Ryan crafts a story based on the facts known of Charlie, Charlotte Parkhurst. I remember hearing about her story growing up in Hollister because she worked her later part of her life in Santa Cruz, Watsonville and the San Juan Batista area. A great read of the 1800's about a brave woman who had to survive the best she can,.
