As a teacher-librarian, I have the opportunity to read young adult books to share with my students. The list that I have provided will have an overview of the book and personal comments. They are on a Book-mercial style image to get a taste of the essence of the book.

They Called Us Enemy by George Takei
This is a must for any school library. I like how history is portrayed in a personal account in a graphic novel format. George Takei is a very famous actor, who as a young boy was, with his family living in two different internment camps. One of the camps was Tule Lake. My own father was a music teacher at this camp. He had former students come and visit him later in life. I remember my father telling about how awful the families were treated. It was shocking. This story is so important , we should not repeat history as in putting regular people in locked up places, especially because of their ancestry. Hitler did it, Stalin did and the US has done it. Let us learn from history and make choices that is fair and kind to all.
