As a teacher-librarian, I have the opportunity to read young adult books to share with my students. The list that I have provided will have an overview of the book and personal comments. They are on a Book-mercial style image to get a taste of the essence of the book.

A Dog’s Purpose Toby’s Tale by W. Bruce Cameron
Toby is an adorable beagle who enjoys people. He has allergies that slows him down ... a little but the little fellow bounces back when the vet treats him. He lives in a nursing home and is being trained to be a therapy dog. But the director thinks he is to energetic for the residents. It's fine for any middle school library. Enjoy. Audio book also very good.
