On the Come up by Angie Thomas

This is the second book that I have read by the author.  I liked it because it shows how words have power either for good or for bad.  Bri learns a lot about her family.  Her mother is a former drug addict who has worked hard and continues to work hard to be clean and take care of her family.  Her father's parents and her mother don't always get along.  Her aunt is a drug dealer and also a dangerous and violent.  It's a good story and fine for any high school libraries.
