As a teacher-librarian, I have the opportunity to read young adult books to share with my students. The list that I have provided will have an overview of the book and personal comments. They are on a Book-mercial style image to get a taste of the essence of the book.

Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane
Oh my goodness, what a powerful story. I remember hearing about South Africa apartheid in the 80's and 90's. But I really didn't know how terrible it was. This is a book to read. Things have changed... I hope. The audio book really brings the book to life. It's an important read and should be on every reading list. It's a hard read but it's an honest read.
