An Unfortunate Fairy Tale: Reign By Chanda Hahn
This series is fine for any high school library. I like how it takes bits of reality, The Grimm Brothers and bits of fairy tales and cobbles them together to create characters you end up rooting for. The time travel device works to make it a good story about how our prince meets Mina for the first time and how things go terribly wrong and how he becomes evil. It's a good series and I highly recommend it. Enjoy and happy readings.
Circle Reforge: Battle Magic by Tamora Pierce
It's a good solid story but there is a lot of violence which explains the actions of various people. Deep in feelings as the war takes place. Even though there is a magic, the war and battle scenes are similar to real life warfare of past real wars. It's a good book but not for everyone. It's a good soldier book. It would be fine for any high school library. It's a solid read.

Prism by Faye & Aliza Kellerman
It's an alternate world and it's an interesting concept. Can you imagine waking up in a modern world where there are no medicines and hospitals and doctors and nurse? To live a world where you could be arrested and worse for even asking about such things. I did like the book because it worked. It's a tricky concept to play with and the authors were able to be successful in pulling this off. Enjoy.

Space Boy by Orson Scott Card
I'm going to say, save some time on this one. It's a bit to strange and loaded with bodily function comments. I think it's suppose to be humorous but actually it's not. I'm sorry to say, this is not Orson Scott Card's better work. I sadly have to say that I would not recommend this story. It's just to odd and wasn't successful in the story. Sigh,,,, pass on this one.
Seriously ....... I’m Kidding by Ellen Degeneres
This is fun to listen to. I'm sure the reading of the book is also entertaining. But just hearing Ellen talk makes it spontaneously and fresh. It makes one want to laugh and laugh. Sometimes we just need a good chuckle and this is a book to enjoy.
Ender's Series: Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card
It's a strange world that Orson Scott Card has created. Part religion, part culture, part alien and part technology. Ender may be looking for some healing as he carries the Queen Hive that he nearly killed of the whole species. Novinha may be looking for healing with the guilt of those she love have died.
There are lots of conversations between the many characters in this story. It works. If you are an Ender fan, then this book is a must read. Enter in to a world unlike any you know. Go to a different world were species live a way that only Orson Scott Card could create. Enjoy.
The Iron Butterfly Series: The Silver Siren by Chanda Hahn
This is a great series for young adult. It's fantasy and magic and a world that has so much danger hidden behind masks. Wait till you find out who is behind the masks. Thalia is a strong young girl who not only has the problem of picking between two young and amazing men to be her love but also finds out the truth behind her family heritage. It's a solid write and works well. I would recommend for any library including high school. Think Graceling. It's a good read. Enjoy.

Flavia de Luce: A Red Herring Without Mustard by Alan Bradley
I just love how cheeky Flavia is and how she is smarter then any other 11 year old in Britain in the 50's.
This is a great series and set in 1950's in England. She's quirky. And it's a fun read. It's great book for public and private libraries. Serves serious readers who enjoy a good mystery. Would I buy it for my high school? Probably not because it's not a mainstream book. Would I encourage students to read the book? Certainly, if they love good mysteries and enjoy reading.

The Ballad of Lucy Whipple by Karen Cushman
In this story you can really feel how unhappy Lucy is to be uprooted from her nice home and moved to live in a dirty tent and take care of miners. There is so much to read in this special book. You see it in her letters to her grandparents and in her experiences living in her new world. It's a good read.

Navigating Early by Clare Vanderpool
It's a very smart book and worth the read. Early is autistic but back in this time frame that the story takes place, he's just considered strange. Think a modern Huckleberry Finn adventure. They meet dangerous people, they meet lonely people and find dangerous experiences. It's an excellent read.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Best book ever! I do repeat, Best Book Ever! I must buy this for my high school library. It is a rich book that gave me a stomach ache when all the bad things happened. It is riding a reading roller coaster. Each of the six main characters are rich with a back story that ties all in. There is betrayal, and plans that go bad and plans that go good. This book deserves lots and lots of prizes. Leigh Bardugo is one smart author. I wish I could meet her to tell her how talented she is in writing. Her books are smart and layered with complexity and depth. It's an awesome read. You'll thank me later after you read this book.

A Hat Full Of Sky by Terry Pratchett
It's a quirky series. If you like Doctor Who and PBS then this is the book for you. Not for high school libraries because I think it would only appeal to a small group of readers. It's a great series if you like quirky. Heavily loaded in British and Celt accent, it's a read that will entertain. I'm glad the public library carries these books. Think adult fairy tales in the sense that it would be above reading level of YA books. It's a good read
