M. C. Beaton knows how to create characters and crazy situations when she writes her murder mysteries.  The audio book is a great version to listen to.  Enjoy.

The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards

It's a touching story.  More of an adult level of reading but a high schooler could read it. A good read.

The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell

For fantasy time travel magical books, this is entertaining and good.  I enjoyed listening to the audio book.  A must for high school library.  Fine for middle school too.  Lots of mystery and humor.  Enjoy.

The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr

This book is brilliant!  I'm getting this for my high school library.  Flora has a form of amnesia.  The author really builds her character and the people around her.  This is a must read!

Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia

I love this story and also the artwork that goes with it.  It's sweet and poignant.  Painful at times and hopeful at others.  If you are a fan of fan fiction and graphic novels and real life teens then enjoy this story.  I'm getting it for my high school library.

Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

So much to say about this book.  First I loved it, coming from a father who was a violinist, music teacher and maker of violins.  Then I had just visited the area where parts of the books had been mentioned in the Germany-Austrian world.  I also enjoy a good fairy tale.  I would I put it in my high school library?  Well..... I wish I could because of all the musical influence and it's just well written .... but..... there is some very sexy scenes.  I mean really sexy for mature audiences.  So I'm recommending the book and happy the public library carries the book and also fine for personal   libraries.

Shanghai Girls: Dreams of Joy by Lisa See

Wow this is an excellent story.  Travel back in time to  a different China.  At times there is hope and other times there is pain.  A must read!  It's going in my high school library!

House of Furies by Madeleine Roux

Steven King, look out!  Here writes Madeleine Roux and she knows how to capture the imagination of young teens.  I'm getting this for my high school library.  It's dark, it's gothic, it's mystery.  It's dangerous and it's one heck of a read.  Enjoy.

A Conspiracy of Us: Map of Fates by Maggie Hall

Not to bad this story is.  There are some sexy scenes just to give fair warning.  Travel all over Europe in this series.  Would I buy for the high school library.  No.  But fine for public and personal libraries.

Wolf by Wolf: Blood for Blood by Ryan Graudin

If you thought the first book in this series was intense, wait till you read the rest of the story.  It's an alternate history in which Germany, the Third Reich has take over a part of the world and it's in the 1950's.  Think the Xmen meets the alternate history of the world.  It's a good and smart read.

Eurona Douolgy: The Great Pursuit by Wendy Higgins

It's a bit on the steamy side and also on the fighting side.  It's fine for personal libraries but I wouldn't purchase for a high school library.  Maybe because of the steamy side.  I updated the series to adult level.  Really mature readers may enjoy.  Lots of fighting. And a bit of sex.

Eurona Duology: The Great Hunt by Wendy Higgins

Think Game of Thrones (the junior version... if there was one) meets the Grimm Brothers, and you have a story that does come from the Grimm Brothers fleshed to life. It's a good read.  Lots of politics, and special powers and an angry villain.

My Antonia by Willa Cather

This was a personal read for me, my father's family were also pioneers.  It's a classic and a must read to connect to our American history.  It is also a fine piece of literature.  We have come a long way from the time this book takes place.  A letter has so much more value then a text on the cell phone.  The again there were no phones back then or just starting to come to the big cities.  It's an agricultural story, it's a coming of age story, it's an immigrant's story and it's American's story.  The audio book also is good.  This book is like a fine dinner.  Enjoy.

Stella Bain by Anita Shreve

Historical, a different time of how life was lived on both the US and Europe.  A woman who has a mysterious past that she can't recall until she has help from a kind family who helps her find her way.
It's a good read.

The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge

Interesting book.  Fine for any high school library.  I like the courage and intelligence of Faith as she fights biases.  Fine for any school library.

A Tourist Trap Mystery: Hospitality and Homicide by Lynn Cahoon

This is a darling murder mystery.  Think  a young Murder She Wrote.  I highly recommend this series if you like a good murder mystery.  Enjoy!

Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin

This is one incredible story.  It's an alternate world in the sense that Hitler and the Third Reich basically own the whole world.  A young girl was experimented on and now she can shape shift.
Her mission, once she escaped from the concentration camp is to take out Hitler.  It's intense and I'm buying this for my high school library.

Same Beach, Next Year by Dorothea Benton Frank

This story reminds me a little bit of Shirley Valentine, a great movie.  It's a good story.  It's a narrative of both Adam and Eliza of their life together.  It's a good read.

Kate Shackleton Mystery: A Medal for Murder by Frances Brody

This is a different type of British mystery.  Set back after WWII and Kate Shackleton is a war widow.  It's a more somber tone to these mysteries verses the more funny Hamish Macbeth and Agatha Raisin series.  I do highly recommend this series as well if you are a fan of murder mysteries.

The summer of reading mysteries by M. C. Beaton is nearly over.  It's a good read and the audio book is delightful also.  Enjoy.
