Before I fall by Lauren Oliver

When I first started the book, I didn't like Samantha. I thought she was shallow and why was I reading this book.  And the as we went through the same day over and over again, you start to understand her and why she is the way she is.

Also Lauren Oliver has a great talent for cobbling words together to make an amazing story. I'm a fan!

The Diviners by Libba Bray

I heard this book on audio and was well worth it.  Great story looking forward to the next in the series.

Pawn by Aimee Carter

OMG! great story with lots of twists and turns.  If I had a dinner party, I'd invite Aimee Carter and have her talk about her writing and story ideas. Brilliant.  I know I keep reading dystopian stories and this one is a page turner.  Worth the read.

Starters by Lissa Price

The story line of this book is a page turner.  There are some weak moments in the story but it's entertaining.  Lots of surprises.

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

I read this because my teen neighbor talked about how she loved this book and that she's not a reader but this book made her want to read.  I listened to the audio version.  It's set in the "80's when I was a teen.  It's a very realistic story and sometimes because of the desperation in Eleanor's life it can get painful to read.  I would say this would be a great story for mature students.  Very mature students.  It's a great story.  If you like John Green books, then this would be a story you would enjoy as well.

The Lucky Ones by Anna Godbersen

This is the last book in the series.  It takes you into the 1920's with Jazz, guns and trouble.
It's a fun read if you like the time frame.

A Time of Miracles

This is a story that would fit in with high school social studies readings.  It's an amazing journey that takes us into the world of refugees.  It is told simply and elegantly.  A must read.

Tina Fey makes me laugh.  I thank her for this gift.  It's a lovely treat to hear her read her book.  Wait, is she really reading her book or is she just recalling what she wrote?  Hmmm.  Either way, a great book to enjoy.  oh wait ... yes I know it's still not Young Adult or Children's Literature but sometimes it's just fun to read someone's life story.

If You Ask Me by Betty White

Okay so it's not Young Adult or even Children's Lit but who doesn't love the childlike spirit of impishness of Betty White.  Seriously, hear her audio books.  It's lovely to hear.  Thanks Betty!

The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury

This book is read in many high schools.  I hadn't read it until this month.  Actually, I listed to it using an audiobook.  It's smartly written and the stories are well crafted.

Strings Attached by Judy Blundell

This is a story that is highly unpredictable.  I love that!  It's so realistic.  If you've read What I saw and How I Lied by the same author then you know this will be a good read.  Enjoy.  Does not disappoint.

Neil Gaiman knows how to tell a story.  Love the adventure and how Loki get's everyone into trouble.

It's a treat to hear the audio book.  The actress brings each

And of course a love interest involved.  A must read!

This is a great series to read.  I'm listening to the series audio books and what a treat.  The actress reading the books really brings each character to life.  This is a great addiction.  Looking forward to reading the whole series.  I would love to meet the author.

Very endearing story of a girl who has a mentally disabled mother.  A very dear neighbor found her 13 years ago when the girl's mother was holding a baby and totally lost.  Clues lead to a bus ride to find out what had happened.  Really great story.

Reckless by Cornelia Funke

This is a story that has been translated from German.  Germany has so many fairytales that have influenced this story.  It's set in two worlds and in contemporary times.  What would a brother do to save another.  This book has it all.  You just jump right in and start reading.  If you like adventure this book has it!

Front and Center by Catherine Gilbert Murdock

Great series.  You will not be disappointed.  It has a bit of everything.  Drama, sports and romance.
Growing up and understanding family, friends and the dynamics of school are all part of the learning curve.

The Kill Order by James Dashner

Oh boy!  The action just keeps going.  The two main characters are fighting for survival in a rapidly spreading plague that causes peoples to become unstable, dangerous and deadly.

Juicy Central: Diva by Ayshia Monroe

A school story with realistic teens and teen talk.  You won't find proper English but what you will find is a story that takes place in a city like New York or Chicago.  The characters are compelling.

Tia is star of this story but all the characters have their own book.  Tia is smart and wants to succeed.  She has bright ideas and learns quickly.  She uses people to get her own way.  She may not be as smart as she thinks she is.

Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen

This story starts in grade school and takes you up to high school.  It's told in alternate voices, Bryce's and Julie's.  You get their perspective of different events.  It's a fun read.

The Drowned Cities by Paolo Bacigalupi

Non-stop action.  You don't get a breather reading this one.  Lots of fighting of all sorts.

The Off Season by Catherine Gilbert Murdock

I am currently reading the third book in this series.  D. J. is telling her story with authentic voice.  She is a practical girl gifted with the ability to play football and basketball but is burden with self-doubt.  Her family is a good family except they really don't talk about their problems.  D. J. has a boy in her life she really likes, but feels that he is embarrassed by her.

Small Acts of Amazing Courage by Gloria Whelan

I loved this story.  If you've read Homeless Bird by the same author, you know it'll be good.  Well crafted and great characters.  Travel to India... British India where a young British girl bear witness to the beginnings of India's independence.
