As a teacher-librarian, I have the opportunity to read young adult books to share with my students. The list that I have provided will have an overview of the book and personal comments. They are on a Book-mercial style image to get a taste of the essence of the book.

Royal Scandal by Aimee Carter
I liked both books and am looking forward to the third in the series. An American girl is the secret daughter of a British King. Turns out his only love has been her mother all along. Now a dangerous contender for the throne sees her as competition for the throne. Who can she trust? Trust no one. And surprise her mom is now in town. A good read and a good listen to.
Royal Blood by Aimee Carter
I liked Royal Blood, enjoyed the characters and the snappy conversations. Who can she trust? Who is out to get her? It's a good read and a good audiobook. Great job nailing the accents. One thing to note is that Evan gets drugged with a date rape drug that puts her in a dangerous situation. Just a heads up. Over all it's a good book and strong story line. No King Charles is not that king. Instead it's a different family. Enjoy.
Blood at the Root by LaDarrion Williams
A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal
A Tempest of Tea was an interesting story. I liked the backstory on the three main characters. There are some surprises. The audiobook was good. I think this is a good book for public libraries.
Immortal Longings by Chloe Gong
Think Hunger Games meets the Skin Jacker series (By Neal Shusterman). I listened to Immortal Longings and was a bit lost. I had questions as what happened to the host body when the person left it to go into another person's body. What happened to that person. I'm sure it was explained but I may have missed it. More adult then young adult, a few sex scenes. Not to explicit. It wasn't my cup of tea.

This Book Won't Burn by Samira Ahmed
This Book Won't Burn By Samira Ahmed is brilliant. It reflects some very sad realities that are going on in America. Book banning, Bullying, attacks on cultures. This should be in every school and public library. The audiobook is also good. You care about the characters from the start as a Muslim family moves for a fresh start after their husband/father abandons them. The school principal is under the control of a wealthy man running for office. What's scary is that this book reflects some harsh realitites of life. When the library books are being question by a marginal community and books are pulled, this becomes the catalyst of revealing the true architects of discrimination. A good read. Highly recommend it. So says a teacher librarian.
This Time It's Real by Ann Liang
At first I thought the main character was rather shallow but she did warm up quickly. I thought the story was alright and fine. I also listed to the audiobook. I ended up liking the story after all. I would read more by Ann Liang in the future. Okay for school libraries.

MurderFunding by Gretchen McNeil
Murderfunding is the second book in the series. It's an intense book of survival.
The action really kicks in about the middle of the book as the author starts out with back stories. But worth the wait. There is some violence and murder and the body count adds up. I liked the story but not sure if I would have in my school library. Better for public libraries.
Song of the Six Realms by Judy I. Lin
I loved this story. I look forward to reading more of Judy I Lin stories. It has magic, romance, and more. The audiobook also good. Perfect for any high school library. Enjoy.
The Dare by Natasha Preston
The Dare isn't going into my high school library. I found the characters shallow and unlikeable.
Promchanged by Morgan Matson
Sometimes you just need a light happy story with a cute meet kind of feel to take a break from murder mysteries. Promchanted is that book. The couple go into the magic kingdom castle in Disneyland and find themselves in the actual story of Sleeping Beauty. The audiobook and story line is great. I am going to add this one to my high school library. I predict it'll be popular to read. Enjoy.
Coyote Lost and Found by Dan Gemeinhart
I love Coyote Lost and Found. The first book was also great and the second also is just as great. Coyote has some trouble seeing her father with another woman in his life. It's been about 5 years or so when her mother and two sisters were killed in a car accident. Coyote , her best friend, her father and his new girlfriend go on a road trip. Only her and her best friend know that they are looking for the book. Along the way they add more people on the road trip. That converted school bus gets a lot of miles on this road trip adventure. The story is good, the audiobook is good and I recommend it for any middle school library.
The Last Bloodcarver by Vanessa Le
The Last Bloodcarver turned out to be a delightful surprise. It has it all. The orphan, the adventure, the secret, the mystery and who can you trust or not trust. I listened to the audiobook and found both audio and story good. I'm hooked. Fine for any high school library. A good read.

A Line to Kill by Anthony Horowitz
A Line to Kill is a great addition to the Hawthorn series. If you enjoy a good murder mystery fiction right up there with Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christy, put this on your reading list. The audio book is also good. Enjoy.
The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson
This nonfiction book is chocked full of history. You see this true story from multiple perspectives as the background is build up in layers. Well researched, primary documentation takes us back to before the World Fair is barely thought of. Read on as the architects of design figure out how to build this huge event. As we learn about the growth of Chicago, we also learn about a sociopath serial killer who enjoys manipulating people and builds his own hotel of torture. A good long read and a good audiobook. Probably not for high school libraries but public and private libraries would be a good addition. Scary that someone could even be like that.

Five Survived by Holly Jackson
Five Survived is a very suspensefull story. The audiobook is also a great listen.
Secrets inside of secrets drives this story as the RV is driven accidentally in to a random road. But it's all a set up. Who set it up? Why? How do teens react when they are trapped with a dangerous sniper keeps controlling their fate. A good read and perfect for high school libraries. Enjoy.
Hello Girls by Brittney Cavallaro and Emily Henry
Hello Girls is a mash up of Sleeping with the Enemy and Themlma & Louise. I recieved an advance copy and I also listened to the audiobook. I personally didn't care for the book. The girls are stuck in their situation and have become friends. Then they make terrible choices and have no adults to help them. I didn't like the plot or the characters. Since I've seen Sleeping with the Enemy and also Thelma and Louise, I found the plot predictable with a few twists.
The Rise of the Vicious Princess by C. J. Redwine
Having a ruthless queen for a mother can be dangerous. This vicious princess finds herself helping manage the kingdom and looking for a traitor. After multiple attacks on her, her new bodyguard becomes closer to her. Their friendship is the only one she can trust... or can she? A great read. A great audiobook. I'm getting for my high school library. Enjoy.
The Cursed Carnival editor Rick Riordan

Jo by Kathleen Gros
Jo's in middle school, her father is away in the military service, her mom is a nurse and she has three sisters. Set in current times, it's a delightful graphic novel giving the March girls a fresh new look. I thought the book was done well and should be a welcome addition to any middle school library.

The Brothers Hawthorne by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
I love this series. The Brothers Hawthorne is a continuation of a great smart series. Smart and clever and well thought out. The audio book is also really good. Enjoy. Perfect for any school library.
Fate Be Changed by Farrah Rochon
If you've seen the movie, park it to the side. This is it's own original story. It's a good story and also a good audio story. Love the accent. It's Back to the Future concept Scottish style. Enjoy! It's a good story line and fine for any high school.

Cat + Gamer by Wataru Nadatani
This is more of an adult Manga not in the sense of inappropriate content but because of the story line. Not for high school libraries.
Jade Fire Gold by June CL Tan
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/56645963-jade-fire-gold?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=BnGFiDwSaS&rank=1
It's fine for high school. Audio book also entertaining. Adventure with magic. Enjoy.
The Encanto's Daughter by Melissa De La Cruz
It's fine for any middle and high school library. I wasn't wowed by the book. Teen saves the world and rules a country she doesn't know much about, doesn't always fly with me but it's okay.
The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson
Are you a fan of the Lord of the Rings? Involved fanasty stories? Here's a series for you. The audio book is also a treat to listen to. Great story, setting and character well developed. Enjoy the ride. I'm looking forward to book 3.
The FInal Empire by Brandon Sanderson
A student recommended this series to me. Thanks Hannah. I do love an epic adventure, throw in some magic and an orphan and you've got a good story line. The audio book is a treat to listen to. The story is highly developed from settings to characters, it's a good read or good listen. Enjoy.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/190854829-sheine-lende
I am impressed with this story. THe audio book is well done. This is the story of a teen who goes in search of missing people and then it becomes more personal when her mother goes missing. Told in Sheine's perspective and filled with backstories that fit in perfectly. A good book to add to any high school library. A good read for sure!
