Unenchanted: An Unfortunate Fairy Tale by Chanda Hahn

It's a cute fun remaking of fairy tales in a contemporary world.  I didn't like the cliche dialog of the Chinese cooks but other then that it's a good read.   I would say good for personal libraries and public libraries.

The Mediator: Remembrance By Meg Cabot

Suze and Jessie are all grown up and now adults.  SO this story is more of an adult nature because of sexual references and romantic overtures.  Not for a high school library but it's still a good read.  If you are  a fan of The Mediator series, it's a good read.  Evil Paul is back and still causing problems.  Meg Cabot does know how to tell a good story.  Again, the characters have grown up and so more adult situations.  Enjoy.

I am Number Four Series: The Fall of Five by Pittacus Lore

It's a good alien series.  Masterfully crafted and perfect for any high school library.  Lots of fighting, and planning and evil empire overlords.  It's a good read for any teen.

It's a good read and fine for any school library.  It's solid.  Also it's written as a play rather then a traditional story.  It's a good feature.  Enjoy!

The Unlikely Hero of Room 13 B by Teresa Toten

It's a quirky and good.  It's an inside look in the world of obsessive-compulsive disorder in a teens world.  Enjoy.

The Mediator: Darkest Hour By Meg Cabot

I do enjoy a good Meg Cabot.  She writes for all sorts of audiences and this one is for teens.  I love that it is set in the area that I grew up in.  Monterey was an awesome place to go and apparently a great place to set up a good ghost story.  Meg Cabot is a solid author.  Enjoy and fine for any library.

The Immortals: The Realms of the Gods by Tamora Pierce

Looking for a good book to read?  Fantasy and magic?  Strong characters both heros and villains?  Enjoy Lord of the Rings?  Tamora Pierce is the author for you.  She's created worlds of culture and customs, gods and wild magic.  Enjoy, it's a good reading series.

The Immortals: Emperor Mage by Tamora Pierce

I am enjoying this series and find it fine for any library.  It's a treat to hear the story with the author and a cast reading the story.  The characters in the book are solid, complex and deep.  The world that Pierce has created is rich in culture, behavior, manors and dress.  It's a smart read and good anyone who enjoys Lord of the Rings, and other sagas of this nature.  Enjoy.

When We Wake: While We Run by Karen Healey

When We Wake is book 1 and was excellent.  Book 2 is just as suspenseful. The first part is the torture of our two young love birds who tried to make the world a safe place.  Australia and the rest of the world is in an ecological disaster and resources are limited.  Now government and military are involved in a dangerous and deadly venture.  The girl who was brought back to life after over 100 years ago is wanted by everyone.  This part of the story is told by Abdi who really just wants to go back to Somalia.
It's an intensely good read.  Enjoy!  There is some violence and torture.  I think I am now a Karen Healey fan.  She's from New Zealand.  I've been to New Zealand & Australia and would go back in a flash. It's great to read stories from authors from all over the world.

The Immortals Series: Wolf Speaker By Tamora Pierce

I actually heard the audio version of this book.  A treat that the author is part of the cast reading the book.  Tamora Pierce writes smart adventure books infused with magic and humor.  She has strong girl characters who learn about their talents and working with all sorts of people and creatures.  A must for any middle and high school library.  If you like Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter then enjoy this classic series.

The Immortals: Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce

A girl's version of Lord of the Ring.  Tamora Pierce is an author who can create strong character.  I enjoy how the author weaves all these different series together.  Friendship and learning infuses the story to make a characters strong.  Enjoy!  Fine for any library.

The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke

You just have to enjoy reading Cornelia Funke's work.  It's magical and quirky.  Lots of twists and turns.  This story reminded me of Bradbury's Something Wicked Comes This Way with the magical carousel that changes age.  What would happen if you became older or younger?  It's fine for any library.  Enjoy!

The Light Between Oceans by M. L. Stedman

Oh my what a beautiful touching story.  The story of sacrifice and hope, the love of a parent and the test of doing the right thing.  Enjoy by going back to the 1900's in Australia and read about two women and their claim on a little baby.

Tortall: Daughter of the Lioness Series: Trickster’s Queen by Tamora Pierce

The story continues with greater complicated plots.  Pierce can really tell a story.  Before there was Game of Thrones, there was the land of Tortall.  Violence, plotting, scheming and even some subtle mention of sex makes this one heck of a story.  This book is fine for any high school library.  Enjoy.

Tortall Story: Beka Cooper: Mastiff by Tamora Pierce

Tamora Pierce can really write a story.  Think Lord of the Rings, plus CSI, plus Graceling and you have a pretty darn good story.  Fine for any high school library.  We get to watch Beka grow up to a young woman who is a highly trained investigative police officer.  Enjoy.

The Iron Butterfly by Chanda Hahn

Tortall: Beka Cooper Series: Terrier by Tamora Pierce

Discworld: The Color of Magic by Terry Pratchett

Think Doug Adams Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy meets Dorothy in the world of Oz and you get one crazy story.  More for adult.  It's silly and strange.  Enjoy.

The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shepherd

This is a story based on H. G. Well's classic : The Island of Dr. Moreau.  This comes from the perspective of the daughter of the mad scientist.  It's a good Gothic thriller and makes a good companion to the classic.  Enjoy.  Fine for any library.  Good about cloning and gene splicing.  I would recommend it for a science class such as biology.

Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke

Two Boys Kissing by David Leviathan

This is my second David Leviathan's book.  I listen to the audiobook read by the author.  It opened a new perspective and genre for me.  It's a powerful story.  It's based on a real experience.  And a big thanks to Michael Cart for being a connection to the story.  I would recommend the story for personal libraries.  I would also say it's a powerful story to listen to.  Life isn't easy but for this book opens a window to the LGBT world. Enjoy.

Uninvited by Sophie Jordan

I liked this story and am thinking about ordering it.  Even though the people haven't done anything they are being put in concentration camp.  They are marked with with tattoos to indicate that they are potential killers even though they are really normal.  Davina or Davy for short is forced to join up with a special training camp.  It's survival of the toughest.  It's a good read.  There is some violence.

I really enjoy Meg Cabot books.  And this one is a good one.  Will I put it in the library?  No.  I wish but I think this one is perfect for a personal library.  The whole story is about Samantha thinks her boyfriend wants to go off one weekend and have sex.  She's never had sex and is learning about it. Royally Lost by Angie Stanton

I actually took the tour that Becca and her family was on five months ago.  It's a beautiful tour on a world famous river cruise company.  In this story, Becca is bored to tears.  I found her rather whiney and spoiled, even though she is missing her mother who died and avoiding her step-mother.  I was also concerned in this story that she falls for a stranger and doesn't know anything about him and she's getting friendly with him.  In the real world,  I know there are dangerous people out there and she could have gotten her self into real trouble.  She makes some dangerous choices.  What's nice is the Prince turns out to be a nice fellow.  The story was okay but I didn't like how it made her parents callous and she has the opportunity of a life time to enjoy a journey in Europe and she doesn't even appreciate it.

It was an okay read.  Probably won't buy for the library.

Defiance: Deception by C. J. Redwine

Out of the frying pan and into the fire is how part 2 goes into.  Love blossoms as well as revenge.  It's a good story and fine for any high school library.
