As a teacher-librarian, I have the opportunity to read young adult books to share with my students. The list that I have provided will have an overview of the book and personal comments. They are on a Book-mercial style image to get a taste of the essence of the book.

Four by Veronica Roth
This is the backstory of Tobias. It's well crafted and great for any library that has the divergent series. Enjoy.
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
I look forward to reading book 2. This would be good for any teen to read or in any library. It's about growing up and seeing in a new perspective. Enjoy.

Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella
This is a book that should be in any public teen library. There are a few f-bombs but it's all about mental health and traumatic event. It rings true. Strong story line and good dialog. It's a serious subject sprinkled with humor. It's a solid book that I will highly recommend.

Splintered by A. G. Howard
You really go down the Rabbit Hole and enter a different world. A dangerous world. Alyssa needs to save her mother from danger just as her mother has tried to save her. She is followed by her neighbor boy who she has always crushed on. And she must deal with a dangerous childhood acquaintance. More is at stake then she knows. Lots of kissing. Good solid characters, good solid plot. Good for any teen personal library. author's website

Prudence: The Custart Protocol by Gail Carriger
This is an entertaining steam punk novel. Would I buy it for the school library? Probably not, because a small select group of readers would get into it. The audio book from the local public library was a fun listen to. It's over the top and outrageous.

The Scandalous Sisterhood of Prickwillow Place by Julie Berry
This is a farce set in British Victorian times. The girls cover up a murder to live their own life and then they realize they need to solve the murder. Very smart book. Not for everyone. I'd say more advanced readers.
I Was Here by Gayle Forman
This is a very good book but it is also dangerous. It's about suicide. It's very dark. Nothing is pretty and not wrapped up nicely. It's dark and depressing. It's a hard read. But it's a good book. I believe it's for mature readers. I would say students need to be prepped before they need to read it. There is some mature content in this book.
Dauntless by Dina Sleiman
Just to let you know, if you are looking for Christian themed stories. It's an okay story. Perhaps a little over the top. I wouldn't put it in a school library. But it's fine for family libraries.

The Penderwicks At Point Mouette by Jeanne Birdsall
I wish this family was in my neighborhood. The sisters have a lovely relationship. If you are looking for a family book, this is it. Enjoy!
The Boyfriend App by Katie Sise
It's cute but okay. Lots of stuff going on in the book. Part mystery, part drama, part mean girls and part romance. It's alright. Let's just say bubble gum for the brain.
Towering by Alex Flinn
If you like retelling of fairytales in a contemporary setting, this is the story for you. Alex Flinn knows how to draw you in. It's a dark tale set in a remote area where over the years, young people have disappeared. Two stories that unite to become one. Enjoy. Great for any teen library.

The Luck Uglies: Fork Tongue Charmers by Paul Durham
The adventure continues with Rye O'Chanter. It's a strange and fascinating world that Paul Durham has created. Enjoy!

Bloom and Doom by Beverly Allen
I love a good mystery. This is written for adults but fine for any teen who loves a good mystery. It's cute, okay so someone get's killed but the main characters are people you would want for neighbors. I will so read another one of the Bridal Bouquet Shop Mysteries. Enjoy. It's just a fun easy read.
Red Scarf Girl by Ji Li Jiang
Ji Li's story of a true account of her family really brings you in the the scary feeling of political upheaval. Gone are the old ways and in with the new, leading to a political bully system that hurts so many people. Read the book. Good for any library.
Moriarty by Anthony Horowitz
The game is a foot! Read the next story of mystery. Two detectives from two different parts of the world employ methods based on Sherlock Holmes. Enjoy!
Fortunately, The Milk by Neil Gaiman
This book is too funny. If you get to hear the audio, it's read by the author. Enjoy!
