As a teacher-librarian, I have the opportunity to read young adult books to share with my students. The list that I have provided will have an overview of the book and personal comments. They are on a Book-mercial style image to get a taste of the essence of the book.

Jake Ransom and the Howling Sphinx by James Rollins
This is a fun read for kids who like adventure and time travel. I haven't read book 1 yet. It was easy to catch on and the story reads smoothly. It's engaging.
Atlantis Rising by T. A. Barron
Save your money on this one. The only thing good about it is the cover art. It is painful to read. Very simplistic. Too simplistic. It has everything and the kitchen sink. A good editor should have done their job and get rid of the nonsense that was involved with this story. It's a ridiculous story line and so far fetched it goes beyond suspended belief. Again, save your money and even more important your time. There are far better fantasy books out there.

The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater
This book has it all, adventure, danger, romance, mystery and magic. Must read the first book to get the second. Looking forward to the third. Maggie Stiefvater has a style of writing that rings true and yet goes beyond incredible story telling. If you liked her Shiver series, then this is way better. Enjoy, and you will!
A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly
The writing of this story is a pleasure to read. The words are crafted to spin a story as well as a picture of life up north. This is a book you will want in your library. A literary master piece.
