Sapphique by Catherine Fisher

Part two of this dystopian society and it lives up to the promise of a mind blowing story.  I couldn't wait to get home to finish it today.  Very smart story.  The character development of all characters both major and minor are fleshed out perfectly.  The persona of The Prison/Incarceron, the cold puppetmastery  of the Queen Sia and faithful Jarred as well as the unpredictable Keiro and the freed slave Attia make this story work as you read Finn and Claudia's struggle to reset the worlds as they know it.  Brilliant story.

Incarceron by Catherine Fisher

This is a great book!  There are two main stories that thread through this very clever story.  Politics and technology defy this refreshing dystopian story.  I couldn't put it down.

Finn wakes up in prison with a strange tattoo on his wrist and no memory.  He learns to survive what ever the living prison throws his way in his quest to escape.

Claudia is The Warden's daughter, destined to marry the next heir to the thrown.  She lives outside the prison and fights her own battle against the evil queen and her insipid son.  All the while trying to outwit her cold, so very cold father, The Warden.

This is one compelling story.  It was about a two day read.  Just finished Sapphique, the sequel.  Another two day read.  Would have been one day but I thought I should go to work, which happens to be the best job ever as a Teacher-Librarian.
