Rules for Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall

Think Blair Witch project meets any super scary haunted house movie you have ever seen.  It is a very strange story that leaves you in the dark.  Quite literally, leaves you in the dark.  I am thinking about getting for my high school students who like horror.  Audio book also very good.

Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell

It's a great read.  Also a great audiobook.  Interesting studies of how some people who are born at the right time, or have unique opportunities and more to be on the path for success.  Add this to your library.  Enjoy.

Teen Titans: Raven by Kami Garcia

This is a graphic novel.  I liked both the images and story line.  It's a good read.  I would like to get for my high school library.  Enjoy.

Assassin’s Heart Thief’s Cunning by Sarah Ahiers

It's a very sexy romance fantasy novel.  A few hot scenes.  I do like the story line over all.  It works as a stand alone.  I actually thought this was book 1.  Enjoy.

The Grief Keeper by Alexandra Vallasante

It was alright.  The story is told very well, it's just that the experiment seemed a little unbelievable.  The girls find love and healing at the end.

The Bear, The Piano, The Dog and the Fiddle by David Litchfield

The first book was dear and now there is a book two.  Add this one to your library collection.  The pictures are bright and solid to tell the story of Hector and Hugo.  The bear is more in the background.  It's a brilliant picture book.  Enjoy.

Charlie Thorne and the Last Equation by Stuart Gibbs

This was a very fun read.  Think Sherlock Holmes meets Albert Einstein rolled into a young tween girl set in modern times.  It's a great read. Enjoy.

The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict by Trenton Stewart

This is a very smart book and perfect for any reader.  Add this to your young people library.  It's a good read.  Enjoy.

The Blue Castle by L. M. Montgomery

This is an endearing story of an oppressed girl that her family took advantage of.  After 29 years of misery, she breaks free.  Keep in mind the story was published in 1926.  A whole different world.  I like how she found herself.  There's a happy ending.  A little to wrapped up but the story is charming.  Enjoy.  Audio book also very good.

Slay by Brittney Morris

I liked this book.  Well.. at first I thought the teens were a bit vapid but that changed real quick.  I liked Kiera and her design partner.  I liked how the game was enjoyable and educational as well.  There is a bit of mature content.  Overall I thought the story was solid and fine.  The audio book is also good.

Look Both Ways by Jason Reynolds

Perfect for any elementary and middle school library.  The stories were woven together in a perfect way.  Life happens, good and not so good.  The audio book also very good.

White Bird by R. J. Palacio

R. J. Palacio can tell a story.  A grandmother tells her life story to her grandson.  Go back to occupied France.  Hide with the young girl as she misses her family and hides from dangerous people.  Perfect for any school library.

American Royals by Katharine McGee

In an alternate universe, George Washington was king.  Now in modern times, the royalty continues.  Royal matches, paparazzi, and one very scheming character with a gleam of royalty in her eyes. It's a good read.

World of Reading Bruce’s Big Fun Day by Ryan T. Higgins

This is such a great series.  Now there is a new spin off in the World of Reading.  Either way, I'm looking forward to more of Bruce.  I will buy for the library for my high school so students can do reader's theater or read alouds to younger students.  Enjoy.  It's that funny.

Big Cat, Little Cat by Elisha Cooper

This is a sweet story... almost like Circle of Life type of story.  The joys of having pets as they grow up and learn from each other and then an older cat passes away.  The younger cat now becomes the mentor of a new kitten and the story continues.  The images are powerful.  Simple yet powerful with bold strokes and done in only black and white.  Well crafted and sensitive to a reader's love of animals and the loss of an animal.  Fine for any library.

Just Because by Barnett and Arsenault

The father in this picture book brings creativity in to a little girl's world.  It's a sweet book but if a student was in the spectrum, I'm wondering if it may be taken a bit to literal.  It's fine for school libraries.  Maybe not for ELD students.  Enjoy.

The Storm Runner The Fire Keeper by J. C. Cervantes

I like this series.  I think that it's time to bring in new mythology in the world for young people to read.  I highly recommend this adventurous books to school libraries.  Enjoy.
