I am currently reading the third book in this series. D. J. is telling her story with authentic voice. She is a practical girl gifted with the ability to play football and basketball but is burden with self-doubt. Her family is a good family except they really don't talk about their problems. D. J. has a boy in her life she really likes, but feels that he is embarrassed by her.
